The finals of the shakti cup 2007 was one hell of a match...... went down to the wire........
the finalists wre mkvocc and ymcc .

mkvocc won the toss and elected to field on a greeen top pith. the opening bowlers bowled a lovely spell ... to get two wickets in the first four overs .. the batsmen had no chance .
pratik bowled fantastically for 8 runs in 6 overs.

dr. raju batted sensibly and was not out till the end,without any support from the other players . ymcc managed to score 133 ... looked like an easy and small target .... the innings was ended by a fanabulous catch by pratik at the square boundary on the off side......

but something else was in the offering....
mkvo cc came in to bat.... in ten overs they were reduced to 30 for four, thanks to some wonderful display of swing bowling , again by dr. rajesh .
the ball was in ymcc's court....

and then there was a lovely partnership of 51 runs between siddharth and himanshu shah , which tilted the balance ..... looked like mkvocc were cruising along....

then again a line of wickets .... himanshu .... jitu bhai .... mukesh .... pratik..... the game was swinging like a see saw .... 134 was looking like 234 ....

tushar , the spinner , was bowling his heart out , but was let down by probably the worst fielding performance of his team , which dropped 6 catches , four of them from one batsman , siddharth , which ultimately proved to be the turning point of the match......

eight wickets down ...... two left ..... 15 runs to be scored.... everyones heart beat was in their mouth , literally,

siddharth ,the youngest player , of the team , batted like a warrior, of course with some help from the ymcc fielders .....

a runout was missed ..... and then in three overs it was over...... siddharth and piyush completed the match ....... and the entire team was ecstatic

the man of the match , and of the series , was the team captain , mukesh , who has been the most influential in the turnaround in the team , which was performing abysmally , just a few months back.......

history had been created.....
a new era has dawned.........
mkvocc has come of age......

p.s. : i scored 5 runs, got out to a very poor unpiring decision , given caught behind , when the bat had actually hit the ground..........
